The material collected on this album unexpectedly resurfaced from a bunch of forgotten tapes stored for decades in an attic. Created by a young Balestrazzi in his late teens, these recordings were realized with rather primitive equipment like cheap reel to reel recorders, radio short wave, abused record players.
"Album Nero" ("Black Album", i.e. tracks 1 to 5) was recorded between 1979 and 1980 and was Balestrazzi very first foray into "industrial" music, in an era when industrial and noise music were far from well known or even aknowledged in Italy.
The remaining four selections, here labelled as "Early Experiments", make use of some recordings from the same period but were reworked in the following two years.

Simon Balestrazzi is an electronic/electroacoustic composer and sound artist active since the the late '70s.
In 1981 he co-founded T.A.C. (Tomografia Assiale Computerizzata), a long-lived and outstanding Italian band operating on the border between experimental music and leftfield rock and considered between the leading ensembles of italian post-industrial scene.
He's currently working as a solo artist as well as with experimental duos Dream Weapon Ritual (with Monica Serra), Candor Chasma (with Corrado Altieri), Hidden Reverse (with Massimo Olla), DAIMON (a trio with Paolo Monti and Nicola Quiriconi) and the improv ensemble A Sphere Of Simple Green (with acoustic bass player Adriano Orrù and pianist Silvia Corda).
He has so far performed live or recorded with many musicians and groups, foremost among them: Gianluca Becuzzi, Bron Y Aur, Fabio Cerina, Paulo Chagas, Compoundead, Sylvie Courvoisier, Deison, Max Eastley, Andrea 'Ics' Ferraris, Forbici Di Manitù, Henning Frimann, Fuzz Orchestra, Hermetic Brotherhood Of Lux-or, Tim Hodgkinson, Dalila Kayros, M.S. Miroslaw, Ikue Mori, Clara Murtas, Phill Niblock, Noisedelik, Victor Nubla, Alessandro Olla, Francesco Paladino, Plasma Expander, Maja Ratkje, Paolo Sanna, Damo Suzuki, TH26, Uncodified, VipCancro and Z’EV.

Rock oltre il rock, funk oltre il funk, elettronica oltre all'elettronica...più un sacco di altre belle cose che sintetizzano le varie anime vonneumanniane in quello che probabilmente è il loro album più fruibile...e quando dico fruibile é un eufemismo: sta roba dà chiaramente dipendenza. Come da tradizione, le canzoni sono scrigni pieni di dettagli musicali intriganti che si moltiplicano ad ogni ascolto, gioielli di arrangiamento, gemme di composizione. Un album che sembra il frutto della freschezza e vivacità d'un gruppo esordiente, ma composto ed eseguito con la perizia di musicisti navigati. ... e, visto che anche l'occhio vuole la sua parte, aggiungo pure che l'artwork é meraviglioso.
